Anthony Joshua won’t fall into Deontay Wilder’s’trap’ by the WBC winner after a new challenge before this Andy Ruiz Jr rematch, states Eddie Hearn.
Joshua and Ruiz have flown out to Saudi Arabia for today press conference ahead of their world title fight in Diriyah on December 7, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
However, Wilder has this week attempted to grab the spotlight in the branch, insisting he needs not and the Ruiz Jr-Joshua winner an rematch with Tyson Fury, an announcement that’s not being treated by the British star’s promoter.
“I want to tell you about Deontay Wilder, and actually right now there’s no point people speaking about Deontay Wilder, because the attention would be Andy Ruiz,” Hearn told Sky Sports.
“At this time the position we had, was the position in my opinion of dominance at the division, no longer exists, thus we can’t be calling out Wilder and that or this. The attention is Ruiz but is not it interesting that when on struggle week Joshua-Ruiz Deontay Wilder announced that he and Luis Ortiz on Joshua fight week were battling.
“We are now at the start of September, there is no struggle, there’s no place, there’s not any date. He has not talked about Anthony Joshua probably. ?
“Deontay Wilder pops up and says’Oh, I wish to combat Anthony Joshua and combine instead of Tyson Fury.’ Why didn’t if Joshua had the belts you need to do it?
“For the past nearly two years, each question going into an AJ fight was’when are you planning to fight Wilder? Oh Ruiz, do not be concerned about Ruiz, when is the Wilder fight?’ He fell into that trap before.
“We’re not going to fall into that trap again. Forget Deontay Wilder, let him go and box Tyson Fury. The biggest battle in the heavyweight division is Joshua-Ruiz, that’s the focus.”
Talking on’Untold Truth’,” Joshua told about how conversation of a undisputed fight demonstrated a diversion before the June defeat to Ruiz Jr in New 32, Sky Sports.
“It was just like I was coming to the end of the road already, worrying about undisputed,” said Joshua.
“That undisputed stuff? It was right before me it had been among the greatest curses lingering over my head once I was champion.”
Hearn demonstrated that the Liam Smith of Britain along with also Alexander Povetkin could contain on the undercard.
“I think a few heavyweight fights,” said Hearn. “Out here, they are very excited about the possibility of big volatility fights on the card.
“I think Povetkin is a guy they’d love to see out here. I would like to find a couple world championship fights.
“Liam Smith against Jessie Vargas is a fight that I am looking at with this card as well.”
