Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation following the expulsion from the EFL of the club.
After C&N Sporting Risk pulled from a planned takeover the club lost their League One status.
In a brief statement, the Greater Manchester force said:”On 18 June 2019, police received a report of fraud involving Bury Football Club. No arrests are made and enquiries are ongoing.”
Sky Sports News understands this investigation isn’t in connection to the owner Steve Dale that is Bury.
This report was made one month before Dale reached a company voluntary arrangement with all the club’s creditors to reimburse 25 percent of the #9m that they were owed.
But this deal depended on the team being allowed to play this season, something the English Soccer League, concerned about the ability to finance those debts and the costs of the team of Dale, refused to sanction.
This led missing a few deadlines to prove he could fulfill his duties sell the team. The EFL ran out of inspiration Tuesday and expelled in the league.
No arrests have been made so far.
