Last 14, kentucky start to the season hit a pothole that was specially harsh.
On their way to going 2-0 on the year, the Wildcats dropped quarterback Terry Wilson into a season-ending knee injury.
Wilson started all 13 games a year ago, demonstrating a true arm and dangerous threat that helped Kentucky.
In his place, Kentucky will begin backup Sawyer Smith, who went 5-for-9 for 72 yards and two scores a week once Wilson went down.
Smith is a graduate transfer from Troy, where he was MVP of the Dollar General Bowl. After taking more than a rookie last season, departure for 1,669 yards and 14 touchdowns, he moved 5-2.
Kentucky’s defense has given up 366.5 yards and 20.5 points a game this season, but it is going to get a boost, as a result of the NCAA.
Linebacker Xavier Peters, who moved from Florida State, is expected to play against the Gators and was cleared to play immediately.
The four-star recruit observed action in two games during the redshirt year of last season.
