Hugo Lloris states Tottenham are still not built to win the Champions League, regardless of their conduct to the final season.
Spurs made the last two for the very first time in their history but that they fell short against Liverpool at Madrid.
The challenge is to prove was not only a one time, however the Tottenham captain believes it is a demanding request when they are up against teams using calibre within this competition.
“I think with a lot of humility there are a number of clubs that have the profile to acquire Champions League every year – historically and also the ability they possess in the group,” Lloris explained.
“They put a stamp on this rivalry. That’s not the case for Tottenham.
“However, as we saw last year, what’s possible if you have the belief, the talent and the subject. Why not be?
“But clearly we’ve got a different profile to that kind of team – Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich. That kind of club.
“It is not a lack of ambition. It’s to win, whoever will be the opponent facing us when we go on the pitch. We don’t need to appear too far ahead”
Spurs’ squad is still full of ability and also the likes of Christian Eriksen, Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Jan Vertonghen are currently reaching the peak of their professions.
Lloris is currently expecting they can play their part to help Spurs get over the line and win their first trophy since 2008.
“Now we’ve arrived in an age where we’ve got the expertise to have an impact to the group,” he added.
“Hopefully we’ll go in exactly the same way.
“After you arrive in a degree, the important issue is to do all to remain in exactly the identical level, particularly the level we came at last year, since the runner-up of the Champions League.
“It’s not a coincidence. We’re doing something we’re building something.
“However we cannot shed the degree. We need to construct the consistency to enhance, to get much closer to that which we are all searching for – prizes.”
