Hugo Lloris says Tottenham are not constructed to win the Champions League, despite their conduct to the last season.
The two were made by spurs in their history but they fell just short at Madrid against Liverpool.
The challenge is to prove that was not simply a one time, but the Tottenham captain believes it is a demanding request when they’re up against teams using more calibre within this competition.
“I believe with a lot of humility there are a number of clubs that have the profile to win Champions League each season – historically and using all the talent they have in the squad,” Lloris explained.
“They put a stamp on this competition. That’s not the case for Tottenham.
“However, as we saw last year, what’s possible when you have the impression, the talent and the subject. Why not be?
“But obviously we have a distinct profile to that kind of club – Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich. That sort of club.
“It’s not a lack of ambition. It is to win, whomever is your opponent facing us, when we go to the pitch. We do not need to appear too far forward.”
Spurs’ team is still filled with ability as well as also the likes of Christian Eriksen Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Jan Vertonghen are hitting the peak of their careers.
Lloris is expecting they all could play their role to assist Spurs get over the line and win their first trophy since 2008.
“Now we’ve arrived in an era where we have got the expertise to have an impact to the team,” he added.
“Hopefully we’ll go in precisely exactly the exact same way.
“Once you arrive in a degree, the main thing is to do everything to keep at exactly the identical level, particularly the level we came at this past calendar year, as the runner-up of the Champions League.
“It’s not a coincidence. We’re doing something we’re constructing something strong.
“However we cannot drop the degree. We will need to build the consistency to improve, to get even closer to what we are all looking for – prizes.”
