Manchester City defender John Stones was ruled out for up to five weeks with a injury, states Pep Guardiola.
The England centre-back suffered the problem in training ahead of City’s Champions League opener against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.
Stones only returned to Manchester City on Saturday after recovering from an prior problem that was muscular , with all the shock 3-2 defeat Norwich being his very first appearance in the Premier League since the opening day win at West Ham.
Guardiola said on Tuesday:”He [Stones] is out five, four or six months. He was injured in training. It is a muscle problem.”
Stones’ absence will add with French centre-back Aymeric Laporte currently inclined to be ruled out until January.
Guardiola added:”For me as a manager it’s an extraordinary challenge. However, I believe in something people do not understand about – commitment and soul. We’ll make steps ahead to fix this issue.”
