The rematch with YouTube rival Logan Paul of KSI could attract the year’s biggest boxing crowd after 10 million saw the press conference, says promoter Eddie Hearn.
The YouTube personalities that were popular renewed their competition in the weekend, investing in a tirade of insults ahead of their boxing rematch.
Paul and KSI have registered after their amateur bout finished at Manchester and also Matchroom Boxing boss Hearn is expecting massive demand to see their fight August in a majority draw.
“two hundred thousand people watched the press conference live, only on their own YouTube flows,” Hearn told Sky Sports.
“I think that it’s around 10million people have watched the press conference now. This battle is going to be the most-watched struggle of the year.
“It is mad, but they’re at least respecting the code. They’ve turned pro, no mind guards, 10 oz glasses. I don’t think that they know what they’ve let themselves in for on that one.”
Having exploited KSI and Paul’s pulling power on media, Hearn is creating a fight bill to include climbing US rival Devin Haney along with Britain’s world champion Billy Joe Saunders at a bid to draw a fan base that is fresh.
“They’ve trained hard, they are in great shape, they could fight, but now the responsibility on us would be to be certain that we showcase great boxing to this new audience,” said Hearn.
“That is why Devin Haney, Billy Joe Saunders are most likely going to be on the undercard too, as it’s 1 thing bringing millions of new fans to the game, can we maintain them? That is the challenge that is newest.
“Even if we could keep one percent, it’s great for boxing.
“Madness, total madness. I really don’t understand what is going to take place. Staples Center is going to be mad and we can grow the game and keep these fans from the game, and reveal some greatness while we’re there together with Devin and Billy.”
