Caroline Hedwall will create a Solheim Cup return for Team Europe in Gleneagles, six years from developing a considerable landmark in the championship’s history.
The 30-year-old was a part of Europe’s final Solheim Cup victory in 2013, a record-breaking 18-10 victory in Colorado, where she created her own milestone.
Hedwall became the first player on each team, to win all five of her games, helping Europe to retain the trophy in solid style.
The Swede teamed up with compatriot Anna Nordqvist in the two periods of foursomes, seeing off Stacy Lewis and Lizette Salas 4&2 in the opening match of the week and beating Morgan Pressel and Jessica Korda 1 & 2 to Saturday morning.
Hedwall’s partner switched to Caroline Masson in which they won each of the fittings 1 & 2 to help Europe in taking a five-hole edge in the last day.
Better was to come from the Sunday singles, in which ensure the decoration would return back to European land and Hedwall left a to maintain a victory that is 1up over Michelle Wie.
