Europa League Group K
8:00pm Thursday 19th September
Team news, predictions and key stats ahead of Wolves vs Braga since the Europa League group stage commences.
Wolves welcome again Willy Boly after the protector served a one-match suspension in the Premier League on the weekend.
Ryan Bennett could be remembered at the cost of Jesus Vallejo, that fought throughout the 5-2 defeat by Chelsea in Molineux.
Whereas Ruben Vinagre and Jonny Otto could be rotated at left wing-back nuno Espirito Santo should pick at between Matt Doherty and Adama Traore.
Braga boss Ricardo Sa Pinto has a lot of choices at his disposal. Andre Horta may be drafted back in the midfield in place of Paulinho.
Former Fulham striker Rui Fonte may have to settle for a place among the replacements.
This will be the very first assembly between Braga and Wolves.
Mothers have won five of the six previous meetings together with Portuguese competitions (L1), although all of these came between 1971 and 1974.
Braga have just won one of their eight away games against English resistance (D2 L5), defeating Birmingham 3-1 in the 2011-12 Europa League.
Braga have never dropped their opening group stage match at the Europa League before, winning three and drawing one. All three of those wins have come away games.
That is Wolves’ first appearance in a significant European competition as the 1980-81 UEFA Cup. They won all six of their Europa League qualifiers this season, netting 19 goals, together with Diogo Jota having a hand in eight of these goals (3 goals, 5 assists).
Nuno Espirito Santo will need to get one over in the side. Braga are always harmful but do not travel well. Are Wolves caught up in the emotion of the Europa League? As they had been thumped by Chelsea they even took their foot.
They had been blown away at the weekend and it was very unlike these to concede five and also create mistakes. Nuno takes this seriously and that I anticipate Wolves to become strong here, getting off to a start from the group stages, although they need to return to basics and get a win in in the Premier League.
